Sustainable business practices are a top priority at De Vries Cornjum. Yes, we use diesel engines. And yes, we consume a substantial amount of diesel each year to carry out heavy-duty work in wet nature reserves. However, one of our company’s most important goals is to reduce our emissions every year — and we achieve this in the following ways.
Our company buildings are equipped with solar panels connected to a battery storage system. Our entire fleet is powered by Euro 6 engines, and we continue to make them more sustainable. Each year we use more HVO100 (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) in our machines, which can reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 90% compared to regular diesel. Our premises are heated entirely without natural gas.
These investments led to a CO₂ emission reduction of no less than 24% in 2025 compared to 2024, while our overall energy consumption across our buildings decreased by 11%. When corrected for turnover, the emission reduction even amounts to 48% and the energy reduction to 38%.
For us, this represents another significant step towards a more sustainable company and a more environmentally friendly approach to maintaining wet nature areas.
